 Integration of multi-source systems into a single data platform

Overview 

Our client, the Hungarian-owned B+N Referencia Zrt. provides full-scale facility management services to its clients in Hungary as well as eight other countries. We helped them to integrate their multi-source systems into a common data platform. 

Challenge

Company acquisitions can generate situations where sister companies use different business support (CRM and ERP) systems. This happened with our client, who has two international on-premise and two online ERP systems for different tenants (Business Central). The systems did not support the transparency and standardisation of the company's processes. To solve this issue, B+N needed a common platform to integrate data into and to create a unified BI solution that could be rolled out across all countries.

Solution

We integrated all countries into Fabric, using Data Factory as ingestion, Fabric notebooks for delta table creation. With these tools, we integrated Business Central and SAP systems into a common platform. Then we used dbt for ETL purposes, and Power BI for data visualization. When we completed the platform development, we organised training for the users to become experts of their data platform.
